Losing-Weight-with-Healthy-Food–You-Are-What-You-Eat!
Dr. Timothy Hollingshead | February 6, 2012Can you remember that well-known adage, you are what you eat? You may have thought it was simply a phrase said by parents who would like their young ones to eat their vegetables but you truly are what you eat! If you munch on a tuna sandwich, the tuna is digested and the amino acids (proteins) from it are used in your body for building muscle and creating new cells! When you consume a lot of junk food, you may observe that your complexion changes and you appear bigger, whereas when you consume healthy foods, your overall appearance is healthier. Therefore, diet is the first place to get started when you want to slim down. There’s no point in doing lots of exercise if your diet isn’t up to scratch! Your diet should consist of healthy hearty foods.
The next step is to identify what nutritious foods you have to include in your weight loss diet plan. The objective is to cut down on calories so that you get rid of some pounds, but without going with no food or causing yourself to overindulge on junk food. Try to slowly change, don’t drop your calories and eat healthy all at once. Begin to slowly modify your meals and snacks so that you are consuming more healthily. Thus, the first thing should include in your diet is protein. Protein is one of the primary building blocks of your body and is essential for many body functions such as building muscle and repairing cells. It is not at all difficult to get adequate protein by adding foods such as beef, chicken, pork, eggs, and soya bean products to your diet. Carbohydrates are the next most crucial nutrient you must include in your diet. Don’t go nuts on the carboyhdrates though, since too many will just turn into fat if the energy from them isn’t used! Choose foods including whole grain bread and brown rice for your carbs needs. And last, fats should be included in your diet. Yes, while you’re working to get rid of the excess weight, your body still requires dietary fats. Go for healthy fats like those found in nuts and fish. In addtion, eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits so that your body receives all the vitamins and minerals it requires.
You should also be aware of the kinds of foods you must not eat. It goes without saying that you have to decrease your consumption of the empty calories of junk food, and it’s a good idea to only consume lean meats. Try not to eat processed (or simple) carbs (things like refined bread and pasta), go for complex and whole carbs, like the brown rice mentioned above. Do away with alcoholic drinks whenever feasible because it will not help you to slim down.
You should now know the best foods to include in your diet and the ones to avoid. Examine your normal eating habits and devise several ways to make your meals more nourishing. Allow your stomach to slowly shrink by eating 5 or 6 small meals every day so that eating large servings will no longer be a concern for you.
